ATLAS STUDIOS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


1. What types of photography do you do?

Atlas Studios is a corporate and commercial photography studio. We specialize in portraits, headshots, commercial marketing, advertising, and events with an edition passion for branding, retail, editorial photography, fine art and fashion. Industries of interest are medical, law, insurance, technology, finance to name a few.  Although we do not do weddings, we have a special vendor we highly recommend.

2. Why should I hire a professional photographer?

Atlas Studios was voted Top-Ten Commercial Photography Studios in the San Francisco, Bay Area. As locals we have the home court advantage when it comes to producing your next project. With over 25 years professional experience, lead photographer Marcus Araiza is published photographer, who recently won the CalSPRA Excellence Award in 2022. Marcus is  former board member of the Professional Photographers of Santa Clara Valley, and has had a credential with the Professional Photographers of America. Having graduated from film school, at San Jose State University with an emphasis in Writing, Directing and Producing with a minor in Cinematography Marcus has been producing high quality photography for companies like, Google, Facebook (Meta), LinkedIn, Gong Io, Micron, SilkRoad, The Ritz Carlton, Picture Lab, Halvorson Models, Look Models, and many more. Marcus's work can be found in print ads, websites, book covers and much more.

3. Are deposits and payments refundable?

50% deposit or payment is non-refundable. This deposit covers supplies needed for bookings, the commitment between the client and the studio to secure a specified time, date, location and specialty service. Secondly, it covers the admin time and creative time for the photographer to prepare the client file and information for the shoot. Lastly, it pays the upfront studio rental fee, and deposits for staff and or freelancers contracted by the studio for the booking. Late cancelations, require a $75 reschedule fee for the first availability of our photographers.

4. When will we get our finished files and prints?

Edited files take 7-14 business days to return. We understand that some clients may need images quicker than that, and if we have the ability to quickly process  1 or 2 images within 48 hours, we'll do our best to make that happen. Some expedited rushed charges of $150-$300 may apply for extremely rushed returns. 

5. Do you include digital images?

Digital files and prints are provided in certain packages. Branding and Headshots digital files are commonly desired in our packages. Luxury Branding Sessions and similar packages may involve print purchase, wall art and enlargements. A-La-Carte  digital images are currently on sale for $150 each or 10 Digital images for $890.

6. How much are your photography services?

Our headshot packages start at just $690 for 1 wardrobe choice, on black, white or grey backdrop and include 3 master images and license. Other packages are 2 looks for $990 includes 5 master headshots, 3 looks for $1290 includes 9 master headshots. Executive headshot rates range from $750 (license included) for small business owners only and  $1400 for large companies with global market recognition (rights included). 

7. What’s your cancellation/rescheduling policy?

No one likes a cancellation, but sometimes things happen. Cancelations cause Atlas Studios to lose valuable time that the studio could be handling other paying sessions. Late notice cancelation does not give Atlas Studios enough time to fill-in our schedule  

We invite you to discuss any scheduling issues or possible bumps before making any decisions, as well as having a back up date that might also work.  We are willing to try to work with you, but please keep in mind that we're extremely in demand and our schedule is booked several weeks out during busy seasons. Non-Corporate clients who aren't in a predefined agreement can cancel 5 days before their shoot without penalty. If the cancelation is within the 5 days of the shoot date, a $75 rescheduling fee will apply and the new date must be scheduled within in 5 days of the cancelation notice. Last day cancels, will be billed full amount of the session which will go towards the new scheduled date. 

8. How long will our session take?

Sessions can last 20 minutes for Headshot Express sessions and 1.5- 2 hours for Luxury Branding Sessions. 1 look Branding Sessions take 30 minutes. 2 look Branding Sessions take 60 minutes and 3 looks takes 90-120 minutes. We tend to give hair and make up up to 60 minutes to get the client ready before the shoot in our hair and make up room.

9. Do you backup or otherwise secure images for protection?

Client sessions are backed up 2 days. First it is primarily the client responsibility for their images to be downloaded and saved on their end. They have 2 weeks to save their final images. Atlas Studios saves the edited jpegs, but does not guarantee to store the raw files. We tend to throw away the files in a year or two.  

10. Do I get the copyright/ownership of my photos?

Clients do not own the copyright or have ownership of the images. A client may purchase the copyright to an image based on our regional, national and global calculator regarding the ownership and value of an image. Typically clients are charged 2x their booking fee to own the images on any o our signature packages. Advertising campaigns fees are quoted on a per project basis. All clients receive a license to use the images for their marketing purposes, but are not allowed to sell the images to a third party or enter the images in any contest without prior written consent. 

Marcus Araiza, Atlas Studios and the heirs owns the copyright perpetually.
